I like the writing format, but as an older reader, I could tell it was for middle-grade readers so I wasn't as immersed as I could have been. The little mysteries were heartwarming though.
Very sweet, 5th grade graphic novel.
Set in a lovely, safe world (in Europe, no less), where 10 year old girls can have tree houses in the woods and ride their bikes freely. Adventures, hardships in friendships, excellent depiction of parent/child interaction (it's hard, duh), curiosity and its attendant troubles.
Well rounded, heartbreakingly innocent, uplifting. I laughed, I cried. I want to live in a world with less traffic, street cafes, woods to roam through with my friends, and the belief that the world is good and interesting.
I may be completely tainted by the news of the day.

I would have loved to be Cici as a young girl! Have that amazing mind (and luck), great friends and a selfless heart (humm) that unwraps a mystery turning t into people's amends with their past and a starting point for a happy future!
This story gathers two great adventures of Cici (a ten-year-old sweet girl) that (sometimes) together with her closest friends, Erica and Lena, will catch the loose thread of a mystery - an unknown character or repetitive behavior - in hopes of uncovering that secret that we all carry inside.
In her quest, Cici will also have to face the consequences of her actions and decisions, growing up and catching up to the fact that, sometimes our biggest secret lays deep in our past regrets.
A lovely story that takes the reader to a zoo with very lively animals and to a forgotten library wing.
A beautiful series that will allow young readers to learn about the difficult things in live while the adults will feel the heartwarming sensation that things can always be better.
An e-ARC of this book was kindly provided by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I want to start writing journal.... Again....like cici!
A lovely set of mysteries for kids. Cici is a feisty and fun character with plenty of rough edges to explore. Her friends tend to get drug along on mystery solving expeditions whether they like it or not which leads to some infighting & character growth opportunities. The Cici/Mom relationship is frustrating but feels real. If the series continues I hope we'll get to see more of their relationship as it shifts and grows (& maybe some back story?). The art is super cute & looks fantastic in the comic sections & the letters and Cici's illustrations in the other bits help connect you to Cici and understand her thoughts nicely. Perfect for the young detective in your life or anyone looking for a beautifully illustrated little mystery.
The illustrations brought this from a 4 to a 5 star for me. The stories (there are 2 parts to this first book) are touching and I was very pleased to see that the questionable behaviour of CiCi was dealt with eventually.

Cici's Journal was such a fun read. It's a perfect mix of graphic novel and journal, and the illustrations were awesome. This is definitely a good choice for school aged children, particularly those with an interest in being a writer.
