I really enjoyed this book, I loved both of the adventures that CiCi went on in this graphic novel. I also love that it was translated from French. I wasn't a fan of CiCi at some points in the story as she could be quite self centered and lied to her mom and friends, but I liked how her character developed by the end of the book. I actually enjoyed the mystery and the plot more than the characters.
Rating: 3.5
Cici’s Journal contains a collection of small stories within. The first volume contains two “mysteries” that Cici is determined to solve about particular elderly from her town. The stories are fun and always contain a deeper message. I liked how parts of the graphic novel were set out like a scrapbook, and the colours / artwork used. Cici also develops as a character throughout the stories. She’s not perfect, and is given time to reflect on some of her wrongdoings and repair relationships that she had neglected.
I would definitely encourage a younger audience to give this a go! I thought it was a well-rounded middle grade read.

Sooo cute! Loved the stories and the life lessons. Starting Cici’s Journal Lost and Found immediately.
Cici’s Journal was a two part mystery journal containing a variety of mixed illustrations in photos, art supplies, drawings, articles, and journal notes. I absolutely loved the details of every page. The story was illustrated so beautifully that I cannot believe the cover does not match the beauty of what you will find inside.
Cici is a curious young girl who loves a good mystery. She enjoys people watching, particularly “mysterious” elderly citizens within her community and this gives Cici inspiration for the stories she will one day write as she dreams of becoming a novelist.
The stories are ultimately about helping others, and learning a few hard lessons on why you should open up about your feelings, make time for friends, and to not lie to parents. I think there should have been more discussion about the consequences of lying to parents which Cici does repeatedly, but other than that small detail I wouldn’t change a thing.
This book is perfect for a new generation of young mystery readers. I would highly recommend this for any young reader who is imaginative, curious, or into mystery books.
Thank you to NetGalley for the digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This just didn't click with me. My 11yo son said it was "cheesy" and I have to agree. The art is lovely, but the story with it never quite matched the charm.
I really enjoyed the first story in this book, but the second one kind of annoyed me. As a librarian, so many rules are broken! Bleh! I couldn’t get passed all the privacy issues and such. Overall, cute book. I think I was just too much in my head.
Such a cute book. The mix of journal and graphic is a nice touch. The first two in this collection have a good way of mixing new and old. Yes, Cici learns about "normal" kids troubles but also other's stories. Both had good lessons in them as well. May be buying this for my niece.

This is a middle grade graphic novel and it has 2 separate stories inside. Some of the characters overlap but the mysteries that the protagonist Cici solves are different. The art is fantastic and the morals of each story are heartwarming and appropriate life lessons for its audience.
Cici dreams of being a novelist. She keeps a journal for her notes, scrapbook pieces, and doodles about the mysteries she encounters every day. Her favorite subject is people, especially grown-ups. She knows that everyone has a special secret and she thinks it’s her job to find out what that secret is.
The first story The Petrified Zoo follows Cici and her friends as the notice a strange man covered in brightly colored paints emerging from the woods. They wonder what the man could be up to. Over the coming days they try to figure out what secrets this mystery man is hiding. Let me just say it’s so wholesome and sweet!
The second story Hector’s Book begins during summer break. Cici’s friends are away and Cici once again notices a stranger that she becomes intrigued by. When her friends return from their vacation Cici ropes them in to helping her investigate. Another heartwarming and sweet conclusion with some life lessons thrown in as well.
