I am in a Bible Study that has been going through the book of Genesis for over a year now! We had gotten to the chapter about Judah and Tamar, and our leader recommended this book as a fictional retelling of Tamar's story. Since it was a quick read (only 4 hours on audio) I decided to have a quick listen! Tamar is one of the few women named in Jesus' lineage, and that is something to take note of! It was an enjoyable story and a glimpse into what life may have been like during that time. She has written stories about the other women in Jesus' lineage as well, so I may have to look into them as well!

It was kind of an interesting fictitious look at what Tamar's life might have looked like, but I did not like the actual writing. I've read other Francine Rivers books that I enjoyed, but this one seemed kind of one note and bland.

a beautiful way to make the story of Tamar longer, by novelizing it and adding a bit more depth.

3.75 stars. I find it amazing that anyone could flesh out such a story based on someone who was only mentioned once. I truly enjoyed the way Tamar was portrayed, though I felt sorry for her the majority of the book. It was truly amazing that she could adopt God as her own after all she was put through. The reason I took 2 stars off my rating is that I didn’t like the way this was written. There was something very forceful about the tone that just didn’t sit right with me.

An interesting perspective on the story of Tamar. Overall, I enjoyed the book. Some of the dialogue was repetitive and there were a few times where I thought "You said that already...we get it... let's move on!" So that's why I give it 3 stars. It was a good story, but in my opinion unnecessarily drawn out in some parts. Curious to see what the other books in the series are like.

Books don’t need to be long to be good. This was excellent!
