A great romantic-suspense read. One of the best I've read. The characters were real, the plot was gripping, the insight into investigative journalism great, and the romance very steamy.

5 stars!

A phenomenal romantic suspense read. A great romance, albeit a fast one, and an equally great suspense story.

It held up on a re-read. Clare is really one of the best romantic suspense authors out there!

Oooooookay. This had the occasional steamy bit that was mildly entertaining, but modern day fiction is NOT this writer's forte. Also, there are at LEAST two completely recycled sex scenes in this book! Also, some terrible sex dialogue ("oh jeez" should NEVER be uttered mid-coitus).

I prefer this writer's historical works by a landslide, but I think I'm done with her for the foreseeable future.

IDENTICAL, RECYCLED SEX SCENES. I mean... that is not okay, Pamela. Terriballs. I got a few really good laughs out of this read. Oh mah goodness.

Single mom journalist and kid-loving teacher-turned-senator. Environmental crimes. Corrupt businessmen. Coverups. Luxury hotel. Cabin getaway. Hippie mom. Telling your shitty boss off. All your nemeses are evil.

Re-read Sept 2018
Really solid romantic suspense, with a wonderful h/h. Their relationship moved super fast, but eh, such is the romance genre. The tension was good, their relationship was delicious, the sex was steamy... but the mystery wasn't really a mystery. I mean, I don't think the author intended to mask who the bad guy was, because it was pretty obvious and straightforward. But I really enjoyed it!

Even though this is the first book in the I-Team series, I read this book third. I started the series with [b:Naked Edge|3711152|Naked Edge (I-Team, #4)|Pamela Clare|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1388333216s/3711152.jpg|3754717] and then followed with [b:Unlawful Contact|2771105|Unlawful Contact (I-Team, #3)|Pamela Clare|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1400441020s/2771105.jpg|2796834]. I personally really enjoy having a heroine that isn't useless in romance novels, and so far this series hasn't disappointed. I was initially unsure about how much I would enjoy the journalist perspective, but it's really grown on me, especially since it has such strong female characters.

While this is more on the line of erotica than most of my romance novels, I didn't feel as though it was porn-without-plot. It balances sex and plot fabulously which makes me feel infinitely better about reading it.

The only thing that is keeping me from giving it five stars is that I wasn't as connected to Kara as I was to some of the other leads in this series (I gave those books four stars as well, but for other reasons). Overall, this is a series that I will definitely continue to read and has a lot of promise.

Wow. I loved this story. I didnt think it was too cliche, or that Reece was too perfect. I thought he was a great hero. A politician that actually has integrity. And I loved Kara, and how determined she was. Ill definitely read the rest of this series.

Good romantic suspense. Would have given it 4 stars except its hero was a bit too overbearing for my tastes (and dissed feminism to boot).

Pretty good story, though I dislike stories about reporters. And I thought some of it was predictable. And there was a lot of sex....since I was listening to the audio book, I couldn't skim it LOL. The narrator was great.
