I don’t understand how she ended up with the brother the whole time there was barely any chemistry between the first guy, and then when she hopped to Matt it felt so random and unintentional. I was honestly rooting for her to move out of that town get a job she actually likes and go find herself.
I really liked this While you were sleeping inspired romance in which a woman who gets dumped suddenly gets a second chance with her ex after he has an accident and wakes up forgetting about their break up. The problem? His estranged brother is back and the two are forced to work together on a project where feelings unexpected develop. While triangles aren't really my thing I thought this one was well done. Good on audio too. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review!

I thought this was a very sweet story on finding what you need vs what you think you need! However, I think the plot was lacking on building the end romance - they seemed to just fall together rather than pine for one another, which you’d expect in their situation. Also, you get a lot of info about Layla’s friends and family, but the role they play seems very surface levels. I think we could’ve expanded on their roles more, rather that just have them be an ever present person in the room.
This was an enjoyable book but also one I may not remember in a few weeks. I was entertained but not super engaged. Maybe it was just me, I am sure someone will like this one.
Thanks to Little, Brown and Company for the copy of this book!
Layla's boyfriend dumps her out of the blue. But when he gets in an accident, the hospital calls her as his next of kin... and he doesn't seem to remember that they broke up. Is this their second chance at love?
I'd categorize For Twice In My Life mostly as contemporary fiction with romance as a heavy subplot. Layla needs to figure out who she is, what she wants in life, and who she wants to spend that life with. She's incredibly insecure with her family and with her boyfriend - to the point of keeping some pretty major things from them. I enjoyed her character growth and seeing how the romance would play out, and really flew through this book!
