cute art, hugely disappointed to see the Anglicised version of Gráinne Mhaol’s name as Grace O’Malley.
The problem is that I really liked the writing style of this one, I just wish there was more. Like focusing on a few prominent women in longer essays (and more artwork) rather than a page or paragraph for 100 women (and just one single portrait for each). I also didn't love that Margaret Thatcher was included or some ignorant sentences about Israel and Palestine. It was also very Eurocentric and American-centric and I just wished there could have been a more diverse pick of women.

A wonderfully quick and easy read. Each page covers a different incredible woman.
I really enjoyed the book. Each section is like a little taste test of important historical female figures. I learned a lot of things I didn't know about some women I did know about in addition to learning about women I didn't know about. I wish there had been a little more diversity, but I understand that it's difficult to cover important female figures from the entirety of history in a list of only 100 women.

What a cute little book!
While I agree this book has some flaws: many reviewers like to point out it's lack of diversity, which I will agree with. The book is pretty staunchly white. I do wish there was a bit more diversity. But if you step back, there are a lot of women from South America, Europe, and Asia. So does diversity have to be classified by color? Maybe not.
The cutest part of this book is definitely the portraits. While I do feel like it fell short on a few women and didn't portray them well (a little too girly maybe?) they were adorable.
I think this would be a great book for young girls. The blurbs about each woman is informative and not too long. I learned about women I didn't know about and learned more about women I thought I knew about. Overall, pretty cute.

These were great little snippets. I had heard of all the women at some point in my life, but couldn't have told you what most of them were famous for. Example Ruth Westheimer the sex doctor who was well before her time. There are women I would love to read full books about. Example Margaret Sanger and how she fought for women's right to birth control.
Well that was … disappointing.
The shorts were maybe 4 paragraphs gloss overs of women. Usually white women who can from some level of wealth. And it was a gross oversimplification of a lot of what made them interesting people. I just … sticking Harriet Tubman, next to the lady who made Peppermint Sticks? Really? That didn’t cause a pause from anyone in this process.

This is a book that introduces 100 remarkable women throughout history with short paragraphs and cute illustrations. Some I knew, some I heard of but did not their story, some were new to me. I liked that this was really only an introduction so I was not overwhelmed with information. Also this will probably inspire me to read some books by or about these women which is always a good sign.
