A fun coffee table type book of badass women throughout history. It uses the term history loosely, however, since about 3/4 of the book covers the last 50-60 years. It's an interesting book to lay out in high traffic areas of the home where you might want to only read an entry or two at a time. Most of the women I had heard of before but I did learn a few new badasses to look up and read about. :)
I never realized how many famous women I had heard of, who hadn't begun writing/pursuing their goals/finding their path until their 30s and 40s - I suddenly felt like everything up until now, while I was figuring out my passion - wasn't wasted time at all.
Bought as a gift for my niece and we greatly enjoyed reading it together.
A million stars and everyone should read this!! The illustrations are gorgeous and these women are soooo badass!!!

Formatted like a picture book, Shen's quick overview of women throughout history is a nice distraction, but nothing new or hard-hitting. You'll recognize 90% of the names listed and the average reader could probably write what information was shared. I wish there was either more information on each individual, more interesting illustrations that weren't so much glamour shots, or more obscure individuals listed, like "Relatively unknown Bad Girls Throughout History".
A delightful book! Beautiful illustrations and I learned about some fabulous women that I hadn't heard of before.
It was a fun read, however it felt a bit repetitive at some times. Also, it's very "white". I don't know why I expected there to be more "remarkable" women of all colours and countries. Maybe it's because the cover of the book made it look that way? The story was more about bad girls throughout Western (more specifically: North-American) history, with very few stories of women around the world. These women most definitely did change the world in many ways, but I wish there was more diversity.
Inspirational, funny, and intriguing. A must-read for any bad girl (or nasty woman) of the 21st century who wants to hear about the women who helped pave her feminist path
