I haven't read Nicholas Sparks in a while but I really enjoyed this book. The characters seems fairly realistic and I enjoyed their evolution throughout the story. I thought I knew how it would end, and I hoped I was right but with Sparks you never know what kind of twists are going to come at the end...this time I liked it.
Very good, as are all of Sparks' books! This one took me a little while to get into, but from then on, I was captivated! Denise's son, Kyle, sounds simply adorable, and if you don't fall in love with him, there's something wrong with you! Towards the end, there's a tragic twist that I didn't see coming...if I wouldn't have been at work, I'm sure I would have cried! The ending is slightly predictable, but it's even better than expected! Good romance and good drama. :)
Just like all of his books...a fluffy good romantic page turner. I liked that no main character (aka the mom, son, or romantic interest) died. When this author kills of a main character with something like a one-in-a-thousand type ways, it makes me want to scream and vow never to read another one of his books. (I think the one I'm talking about is 'the choice'...or something).

This is the first Nicholas Sparks book I’ve read. I have to say it is quite different than the other books I normally read but what a nice break.
Nicholas is great with detail and pulling heart strings I see. lol While reading this story I would think “this is such a sweet contemporary romance”. Which it is but then the fires, lost child and utter loss just threw me. I carried this book everywhere!!
I had a love hate relationship with Taylor throughout the book and Denise is just the best person.
They’ve both dealt with such loss that it has left them damaged and a bit stronger. Sometimes to a fault.
You will love all the characters in this book. There are no bad characters and no villains. This is all family friendly and just a nice read.

I never finished to book. Maybe 20 pages left and I completely lost interest.
The book started off so perfectly. There was tension, excitement and just an amazing story. But then the story progressed and it got boring. It became extreme predictable and this was the first Nicholas Sparks book I DIDN'T CRY! WHAT?! I didn't cry? I know so weird. Not one of my favourites.
This book is my absolute favorite one of Sparks. The story line is great and the characters so good described, that it is easy to sympathize with them.
It will always be my comfort-read.

I should have known better than to think a story about a single mom and an eternal bachelor would be anything but wretch-worthy, especially with Sparks at the helm.
I admit, I have a soft spot for Sparks and the way he makes me cry. But this one was too close to home and I rolled my eyes one too many times. Yes, he knows exactly what makes a single mom tick: have the male love interest really reach out to the kid, have him come in and help the single mom with all those things that she let go over the years because she's had to make do with no man in her life, make her feel pretty.
But really I felt a little bit taken advantage of. Manipulated. And I might be a little bit annoyed by that feeling.
