Eh, I'm not sure about this one. I'm not a huge romance fan, but thought I'd give this one a try (a woman at a book fair suggested this book, saying it was her favorite by Nicholas Sparks). It's been a while since I read The Notebook and The Lucky One, so figured why not.

The first third of the book really pulls you in, and the rest of the book is about Denise and Taylor falling in love, and I don't know if I just have a cold heart, but it was just a little too over the top for me -- And I'm all for a happy ending, but ugh at this one -- reminds me of how I felt at the end of Harry Potter.

If you're a romantic, and/or love romance books, this might be a good one (I seem to be in the minority about this). I have one more of his books on my shelves to read (The Last Song) but I might switch gears and genre and come back to that one later down the road.

E recomendo.

This man has just GOT to stop killing people we're invested in.

I have never read anything by Nicholas Sparks before, and have assumed that I wouldn't like his books based on the film adaptations of his books and things I've heard. So I'm putting my suppositions to the test and reading one of his books. I purposefully chose one that hasn't been made into a major motion picture (at least not to my knowledge it hasn't.)

If you can read this book and see it for what it is- a Nicholas Sparks romance, it is not a bad read. If you are an English major, you will cringe because it is filled with trite, cliched phrases throughout the whole novel. I didn't read this book, but listened to it on audio. I enjoyed it, but also became frustrated with Taylor and Denise's characters at times because I felt like I was hearing about two high school kids, not grown adults. The concept was creative, but it wasn't as "deep" as some of his other novels.

I enjoyed this one. The love story was a bit more unique as it involved a woman who already has a child. The romance progressed at a pretty good pace. Although it did have that typical conflict of "breaking up just to realize what you had." I thought that was kinda pointless. But overall- about average. Not the best but definitely not the worst Nicholas Sparks I've read.
