i’m usually not a big nicholas sparks fan but this one really did it for me. everything the jacket says happens in the first 75 pages so for the the rest i was just along for the ride. small town romance, family dynamics, fucked up people in fucked up relationships? i’m in.
this book will be the spot used for my challenge because i read the fault in our stars last year and this year and it now doesn't count for this year's challenge. soo yeah. i read this in 2007.
First I thought it started a bit slow...but then when he left Denise I found it very interesting! This book really made me sad and I practically had tears in my eyes! This is my second book that I read by Sparks and I really loved it!
Lovely story, my heart was full of love after finishing it :) For the feeling it gave me I give 5 stars, but looking at it realistically, the story isn't that innovative or original at all - 3 stars.
It does look like other books I have read from Sparks, which makes it very predictable and also, I am almost sorry to say, boring. The actual story isn't boring, but he does the same thing over and over which is boring and in my eyes not very creative.

I LOVED this book. Today i just read the whole thing from page 100 till the end. I just loved it and I was addicted to it. BEST BOOK EVER!
Sparks has a formula, its true. But it works. This particular book is a quick and pleasing read. The characters are believable, and likable. You cheer for them and you get angry at their faults. Sparks is the one author that I can guarantee I will cry at some point during the book. The only thing I struggled with was the uncertainty around the child Kyle's condition. It was like Sparks hadn't done enough research on childhood illnesses and so chose to give him a "mystery" condition that doctors couldn't explain, but could miraculously be overcome. All in all a good book worth the read.

As with all books by Nicholas Sparks, this one was a really nice, mellow romantic book - just what I needed! It sucked me in right away and by the end had me in tears.
