Well, this ruined me. I silently sobbed during the last quarter of the book.

Slower than I was in the mood for this time. It took about halfway through the book for me to get into it more and by the end I was teary eyed.

This book can cause some tears, but overall is pretty light and fun. I had mixed feelings about Nana's pov, sometimes it made me smile and other times it was kind of cringe.

Maybe my rating is a little harsh, but overall I enjoyed this book. The characters, especially Nana the cat, were fun, and the end was gut wrenching and emotional.
But for me, the writing was not great. Maybe it's just the translation, but some sentences just sounded so strange that it took me out of the story. Also, it reminded me a lot of Before the Coffee Gets Cold, in terms of it's simple plot and the progression through the story was quite basic. I think it would be interesting to read the book in its original language to compare, but I admit I'm not learning Japanese any time soon.
I think the expectation that the emotional ending would make up for the pretty basic and simple writing/plot didn't quite work for me, but overall it was a nice book but I'm unlikely to read it again.

Nice enough as a pick-me-up but the overly simplistic writing style (or maybe the translation) didn’t work for me and I felt unsatisfied by it (probably because of all the hype).
