The art of this series continues to be phenomenal, but the writing continues to fall short of that same mark. This story line is much more engaging and easier to follow, but there are still confusing aspects that you have to read and reread over and over to understand. Way continues to fail to treat the characters and themes in his writing with respect. His writing in some scenes is at worst downright racist and at best iffy. Overall TUA vol. 2 is disappointing to me.

A much more fun and engaging comic than the first one, but it’s still confusing and shaky. Again, Way attempts to explore themes and ideas but fails, and the way non-white/American cultures are shown is weird at best and downright racist at worst.

I can't fully decide if I liked this volume more or less than the first volume. At first I liked it more and then I thought I liked it less. I just don't know. I think I'm struggling to not compare it to the Netflix series. I really love the adapation but it so different from the comic tha it feels unfair to compare the two. When I separate the two stories, I can admit that I like the adaptaion better but I don't hate the comic. I found that it sometimes felt a little confusing. I think it has to do with the fact that each of the main characters has multiple names; their name, their nickname and their number. To add to that confusion, time travel plays a bigger role in Volume 2 so sometimes the visual representation of the character is different because they're older or younger. Other than all of that, I did enjoy reading this volume and will probably read volume 3.

I really thought I was understanding this at first and maybe I was. But honestly I’m just so confused and didn’t remember anything from the first. So I really don’t think this is for me.
