I had a terrible day. You know that kind of day that just beats down your soul and makes everything look bleak and a little hopeless.
I was desperate for a distraction and remembered I had heard to the author, Rebekah Weatherspoon, being interviewed on a podcast where she said this book was fluffy. I needed that last night. I needed to forget about my stress and pain and just lose myself in a hopeful love story. Holy hell did So Sweet deliver and then some.
Kayla is a delight. A big beautiful black girl who love her body, is sex positive, and pro-sex work. She's also hilarious. I was laughing out loud (or rather muffling it in my pillow in order to not wake up my husband) at the dialogue. Fans of witty banter and foul mouthed women, this is our kind of book. Micheal is sexy older man who respects women, is driven, and upfront. (He's in the top 5 of my Steve Rogers Alpha Males romantic leading men list.) His honestly both in the arrangement and his feelings had me swooning on the floor. God damn this man is so damn hot.
This couple are hot! They're chemistry jumps off the page. I was flailing and giggling right along with Kayla as she and Micheal exchanged flirty text. Concerned for her through every step of their complex and unique relationship. I shed tears of joy over the beautiful happily ever after these two beautiful sexy people so richly deserved.
This is fantasy fulfillment of the highest quality. I wanted to wrap myself in this story and never say goodbye to these characters. This is a guaranteed reread and one of my favorite romances of all time.

I didn't particularly enjoy this one - it felt like it was trying to cram an entire novel's worth of a relationship into 100 pages and it just didn't work for me. I find that short stories and novellas work best when they're showing a short period in time between characters in an established series, or if it's not an established series the characters already know each other in some way and the set up happens quickly. This wasn't like that at all and it suffered for it. Also, one of the side characters annoyed me to no end, and the conflict wasn't believable. Not for me unfortunately.
Okay, this was such a super cute and light read. I freaking LOVED Kayla. I think I fell in love with her a little bit. I definitely appreciated the use of safe sex practices in this book. I also really enjoyed the dynamics between her and Michael despite the massive age difference. It was a little weird, but there didn't seem to be this gross imbalance of power that you see in a lot of books with an age difference. I'll definitely check out the rest of this series as well as Rebekah's other stuff. I like the way she writes, and I need to read more black women romance novels. So if you haven't ever done so, give Rebekah a try. You won't regret it.
Short and sweet but I think character development was sacrificed for sex scenes. I'm also not a fan a such a hug age gap (25 years)

It served its purpose. It's a short book with an erotica focus. The writing wasn't horrible, but I feel there was a lot of potential in the story and it was underdeveloped. The characters were just mehhh and some of the dialogue was high level cringe. I gave it a 2.75 because it wasn't the worst thing I've ever read, I was able finished. I am also intrigued to read the second book in the trilogy and see if there's improvement? Overall, I feel like there's lots of room for improvement but the concept was there.

3.5/5 stars. This was super cute! I was impressed by how much I came to like Kayla and Michael given how short the book was. And it was insta-love but I really didn’t mind it like I normally do. I’m definitely going to check out Rebekah’s other stuff now.
