The writing was really good in this book and there were twists that I didn’t even see coming!
However I just wanna say, I wish Hollyleaf ate the death berries herself. Preferably before she went and made everything worse.
This is my favorite book in the Power of Three series. It was so intense!

oh my god. this was everything i asked for thank you erins. i can’t believe i read 5 books of bland hollyleaf pov wondering what the point of her character is only for her to be a psycho and go insane in the last few chapters here. i literally love it rip tho. last chapter was crazy bc why do jayfeather and lionblaze lowkey dgaf their sister just died like “ok anyway the prophecy still real look whitewing’s kits” also technically those kits are not firestar’s kin’s kin but firestar’s kin’s kin’s kin’s kin but whatever anything for the plot. the series definitely didn’t feel like “concluded” but its a way better last book than TNP6, plus it’s fine cause OOTS is a link in. also i lived for jayfeather going detective mode trying to find the birth secret like omg. ALSO crowfeather is such an ick like no need to be acting all loyal to your clan we know you and leafpool were (and probably still are) crazy for eachother. would have given it 5 stars if it weren’t for how they treated the sol situation. why would they go looking for him?? its dumb. and after everything he just turns out to be a manipulator loser like ugh interesting villain when.

This book, and this arc, dragged on entirely too long. I actually liked the first book a lot and was excited to see where the story went. Unfortunately the story went around in circles for the 5 remaining books and I also sucked. Like, on top of all the other things I could complain about this arc, I just didn't like the story. It felt like parts of many different stories all held together by like, chewed bubblegum. Sol could have been a cool character/villain but he ended up being irrelevant. Jayfeather was the best part of the entire arc, and his history with the ancestor cats could have been really cool. I would have read an entire arc just about that. But it ended up not having anything to do with the rest of the story. Their treck to the mountains earlier in the arc was also pointless. Like what was even the point of reading 6 books of this, and then I just did not like where they took the story and how it all ended. The characters were not written well and I felt much less connected to any of them than I have in previous books. I like Jayfeather and ended up liking Lionblaze, but again, I don't feel as emotionally connected to them as I did in other books.

Wow… ummm. I can’t even really say anything positive about the book as like a story, cause basically every event in this book was circular and nothing happened other than Hollyleaf diving off the deep end. I guess we know why she didn’t exhibit any obvious “beyond the stars” power. I will say it did have some funny parts and a little, tiny bit of heartfelt parts. By the time this book was over I actually liked Lionblaze which feels like a miracle considering where he started and his middle and the book right before this even. At least I now have an idea why the next book is entitled The Fourth Apprentice. Honestly, my biggest take away from this arc is that people whose favorite show is Secret Life of the American Teenager would probably love it. And so many soap opera fans must’ve been born from reading it. It was nothing but drama and side quests. Unfortunately unlike the other two arcs and all the Super Editions (even the ones that don’t really affect what’s going on ) had a point. This arc did not. You could’ve written everything that was actually important about this arc in three books max. That is really frustrating. I thought it would get better, but it only got worse.
