Alexia is off to Italy!
With an old friend and a friend made in the previous book, Alexia decides to flee England to find answers to her predicament. This is the first in the series that I wavered between a 3 and a 4. Part of the joy of this series is Alexia and Conall's interactions and they are separated for the vast majority of the story. On the other hand, it allowed the fleshing out of some secondary characters to great benefit. I decided to go with four because a lot of interesting things happen, Alexia is still Alexia, and the settings are drawn that I can easily imagine the experience.
A stronger B plotline, relating to the A plotline, dovetails nicely and sets up future conflict in a way that is wholly consistent with the world our characters inhabit. I appreciated learning more about the politics of the various factions, and while the world-building continued in its complexity, I am not seeing it coming together in a cohesive whole just yet.
Time to give this series a bit of a break as I've read the first three within a week. But at least that gives me something to look forward to. I am, however, hoping that the next book takes place back in London.

Why do I like these books so much? Its all so silly. Its a great break from all those self important books. All the crazy gadgets are fun to picture as well. I love that Alexia is always worried about food when the high jinks insue.
This is my favorite of the series at this point!
I love the story line that Gail sets up in this book. It is completely unique and so fascinating, while it builds on the story set up by the previous two.
If you love a good supernatural story with some mystery and intrigue (and a dash of adventure) check this series out! I can’t help but recommend it!!
I already have the next two books downloaded and ready to go!

After the bomb dropped in the end of the previous book, "Blameless" picks up and tries to explain that little plot twist. A lot of running around, fighting and narrow escapes, and a whole lot less of the witty banter between characters that I enjoyed so much in the first book. At least Ivy was redeemed.
These last two books have been sort of boring. I was 1000 times more interested in Professor Lyall's storyline than Alexia's.
Spoiler
Also, I hate how quickly Alexia forgave Conall. He was absolutely horrible to her and I would've liked to see a more heartfelt apology from him. I don't see how he gets off by getting Alexia a few superficial things.
This was a real adventure and escape and I just undestood how these characters have grown on me.
I had again so fun and I loved how the setting was again a bit different. There was so much action, but I would have loved to have a bit more dialogies because they were so hilarious.
In this series is several absolutely fantastic characters. My favorites were quite absent in this installment, I would have loved to have more scenes with them involved.
