I just so love her writing! I’m constantly smirking or guffaw LOLing. So cleverly written, such interesting and entertaining characters and plots! The mini cliffhangers between scenes kills me. So so intrigued to see what happens next! So glad I have such a huge back catalogue of hers to catch up on!
Also this was my first e-book read on my new Kobo and I loveddddd the dictionary and highlight/note features SO much!!
Twas a lovely reading experience indeed.

Not as witty as the previous books, but I enjoyed it, nonethless. I liked the chance to delve deeper into the mysteries of preternaturals, and to learn more of Alexia's father's past. We get to see another side of Alexia--a truly hurt side.

I do think that--according to her temperment in the past--she forgave Conell way too easily, for all the hurt he caused her. Then again, she had been missing him from the moment he cast her out, so maybe I'm wrong.

All together, a great addition to the series. I can't wait to see where the story leads next.

Again a solid three stars for this book and now after reading the third in this series i now see why I find it so hard to fully engage in them

Now, I'm not sure if this is the writers style, but i now see that there is a pattern. There is a (very) slow build up and then in the last handful of chapters, the story kicks into gear, only to be wrapped up with the usual alexi and Conall chapter.

And here lies the problem, for it takes so long for the story to actually pick up. I found myself getting really bored with the wandering around Europe of Alexia and her companions. Fine we had a few little chases but there was nothing really there to make me want to read on. It became a chore which started to drive me bonkers.

The thing is, when it got to these last few chapters I was really intrested and it made me want to read on.

So anyway, I've decided that this author and her books are not on my must read list, more of a is it on offer and if so I'll buy it list.

Shame really.

Oh those nasty templars! I loved the reunion. Happy once more.

5 stars!

Unfortunately there is trouble in paradise and Lord and Lady Maccon spend almost no time together in this book. Conall spends most of the time intoxicated and Alexia is off having an adventure and being constantly in danger.

It hardly matters to me what happens in these books because they're just so entertaining. I love the Victorian Britishness of them and how everything is so proper and everyone drinks so much tea and talks about hats.

Ended abruptly, but I loved the change of setting and that Genevieve had more of a role in this book.

Full of action and misadventures! This book was also very interesting, bringing a lot of lore to this world and tying it with our world’s history. It was fun to go to Italy and get to know the fearsome Templars.

I don't know what to say that I haven't said in previous reviews of the first two books. Keep on reading! As usual Gail Carriger brings us a mystery and adventure worth following. I look forward to the next books!
