I'm reviewing an ARC of this book, which is set to be published in Aug., 2021.

I think this story will be fun for its intended audience. The biggest hurdle for me was the pacing of the plot. The beginning was difficult because the writing wasn't great. The dialogue and plot literally felt like someone completing a creative writing assignment. However, the quality of the writing got better towards the end and there were some genuinely creepy events and descriptions.
The story got a bit bogged down in the middle with the missing kindergarten teacher subplot and the ending was very rushed and a little too...perfect??

I loved this book so much. It was different from what I would usually pick up but I enjoyed it a lot.

The characters are loveable and for the age this is targeted at it's surprsingly dark. I didn't expect to see demons and murder in a book with 12 year old protagonists and the darker parts didn't shy away from being too dark.

I also love how well the friendship was developed and how well the family dynamics and fears were presented.

It's a pretty short but great book with a lot of plots and twists and I loved the fast paced climax and ending.
