I picked this book up from my local library, not looking at the description. I do this often and mostly have a good experience. Unfortunately this book was not interesting to me. I’m all for a romance but I don’t find explicit sexual content that includes the words c*nt and borderline abuse romantic. The character constantly takes about him “taking.” It got old by the end. To add, the child sexual abuse that is insinuated is unnecessary in a romance novel. My opinion. Could the author have dove into that section of the characters life in a more complete way? I find it difficult to believe that a family of wealth wouldn’t put therapy as a priority for a child that has been kidnapped and sexually abused. She could have explained the kidnapping and its lasting damage without dragging it out throughout the whole book and next to sexual content. It just bothered me. It ends on a cliffhanger and I will not be reading the next one.
Graphic: Child abuse, Rape, Sexual assault, Sexual content, Sexual violence, Toxic relationship, Violence, Kidnapping
I would have loved it if I knew it was a cliffy. I hate Cliffies if I don't know in advance :(
Lots of good detail and character development. So many secrets that I want to know the answer to now.

I can see why this is easily Helen's most popular series. Narrators were perfect for Jade and Talon. I have to say reading about a book thats my current hometown is cool, but also kind of weird. Onto the next one!
This book had me hooked, I couldn't put this book down. Wonderful start to a series to keep you interested and wanting more answers!
I was really excited to read this book. This book received so much hype everywhere I turned. But for me, this book fell flat. It felt rushed and I felt as if there was no character growth.
Jade a lot of the time really annoyed me. She was so quick to say one thing about Talon but do another. Poor Talon, he was one messed up guy. He had so many issues but held them in so for so long it made him closed off from everyone. He was my favorite character in this book. I just hated the way he always hid behind sex, yes he was attracted to Jade but he whenever he didn't want to talk or avoid his feelings he always turned it to sex.
I was let down by this book but I'm willing to at least give the second book in this series a chance before I decide not to finish.

Should have read the reviews. I should know better than reading a book based on a Facebook ad. Poorly written, sex scenes horrible and it ends abruptly on a “cliffhanger”
The author should be ashamed of herself for this book. ManPain McRapey is not a good romantic lead and I don't care what abuse he's endured, he's abusive and a trash person.
Just an utterly insulting way to portray PTSD.

3 stars = This book was just ok.
I just don’t like the characters or the dynamics between them.

This book was a really good easy read all about good characters that keep the story interesting and I genuinely can't wait to see what happens next in the series.
The main characters are Talon and Jade; Jade is a newly graduated student waiting for the results of her bar test and coming off being left at the alter she moves in to her best friends ranch along with her and her three brothers. Talon is Jade's friends brother an ex military man with scars of his own to bare, he struggles to let people in but with Jade he's willing to try. The two are a very cute however dysfunctional couple that you can't help but root for.
There are a few secondary characters; predominantly Talon's family but the most noteworthy is Marj. Marj is Jade's best friend and Talon's sister, she's pretty stuck up and not the most likable character but she is important as she's what brings the two main characters together.
The storyline is not the most original but it is well written with good characters and the pacing is good ending on a cliffhanger making readers desperate to read more from the series.
