I am ✨️extremely torn✨️

This story was incredible and well written and engaging. BUT, and it's a huge but, Thomas was the absolute worst. He was straight up demeaning, belittling, a giant piss baby and plain abusive. He would call Sylvie names to her face accuse her of being a con woman who's selfishly out to steal thousands out of people, then kiss her a second later. I wantes to shut it off numerous times because I could not stand the thought of continuing to listen to him. Worst, least objective journalist to exist. He had a narrative and nothing she did was ever going to change his mind so why even pretend to be interested in being proven wrong? The fact that she let him treat her any fucking way he wanted and then always kissed him back sent me over the goddamm edge. Why? Why did this mystery have to be good that it kept me going?

what on earth???? i don’t even know what genre this is. it was really all over the place. i thought it was a rom com?? but it … was not.

i will say my fave trope is the “journalist written by someone who doesn’t know how journalists do their jobs” and there was PLENTY of that in this one!

I loved this book. It was such a page turner for me. I really liked that it alternated between the two main characters. It added so much to the book. I also really liked watching the characters grow and I really cared about what happened to them. I will definitely read more by this author.

Not your average contemporary romance, and not sure it can even be categorized as one? A great mystery entwined with the enemies-to-lovers trope, though the romance was a little clunky and abrupt. I would have loved a little more length in the book to detail the romance as much as the mystery, but overall, still a story I enjoyed reading and would recommend to others.
