Hard time following the jump in time. Did not connect/like fmc. Connection between mmc and fmc lacking.

This story was filled with so much pain and hurt, but also love. The tension between the two were crazy and seeing everything come full circle for them was chefs kiss.

This was so good!!! This was full of angst, betrayal, revenge. I loved everything about Dom and Chiara’s story.

I love Lillian Harris’s mafia series! This is the first book and while it is not as spicy as some of her later ones it is still a great spicy read with a solid plot. I love how there is always a small plot twist somewhere in her books.

Hate that this ended on a cliffhanger but the book was enough to keep me engaged. Slow burn, which is not my jam, but interesting enough to keep me wanting to finish. Some parts are fantastical- like not recognizing your ONLY friend, but you know 🫣

The story was good but I did not enjoy the female narrator. It started off with the character as a 10 year old and then aged but didn’t feel like the voice aged with her.

I'm going to be honest, I didn't like how the story was going. So, against my better judgment, I looked up reviews.

If I had to read almost 50% through to get to him allowing himself to be blown by another woman in front of the FMC, I would have rage thrown my Kindle. That fucking breaks my heart after JUST reading about their childhood. Jesus... I accidentally read out of order and read Sinister Vows first and LOVED it. Unfortunate.

I like the way the book is set up, where you see the relationship start as children then how it progresses, including the trauma both of them endure. I love to hate miscommunication tropes. I just want to shake them and say "TELL THEM" but I suppose that's the point. I received this book for Christmas but hadn't picked it up yet. When I saw the author is going to be at Readers take Denver 2024 I decided I needed to read it and I'm glad I did. Tropes - Gangster dark romance. Slow burn. Enemies to lovers. Miscommunication.
