I'm not usually a romance book girlie but this felt so realistic and I was so invested in the characters and their lives

This book was good overall. It took me a bit longer to connect with the characters,
but overall it was a very cute story. I didn’t necessarily like the ending, but I liked that it was what made Harriett happy. I also think this was a very slow burn, lots of tension building just to drop again. It didn’t go the way I expected totally, but again, I appreciated the story overall. Loved the friendship aspect as well, I’d love to have friends like this group. The love connection was also very beautiful, and I loved how devoted they were to each other. This wasn’t necessarily a book I couldn’t put down, not u til things picked up at the end. But I loved the metaphors, the imagery, motifs, etc.

I felt like I was tearing up more and more the closer I got to the end. Thoroughly enjoyed this story. All the characters are so loveable but, I really really did love Sabrina & Parth. I even asked my friend early on is there a book about them! I’m not usually into 2nd chance romance & especially not “my best friend like him first” (almost stopped reading b/c ew) type books but luckily it was barely huge part of the book.

Written beautifully. So funny at time and it’s like I feel everything Harry is going through. 10/10 will read again.

Did this book toy with my emotions? Yes. Yes it did.
Was the miscommunication trope running rife throughout it. Yes. And I hate that trope 🤣
The writing style was OK but fit the rom com genre perfectly.
The audiobook narrator was great!

I genuinely, truly loved this book. I didn’t expect it to be my favorite Henry book so far, but it really surprised me. I found myself highly relating to Harriett quite frequently, almost to the point where I wondered if Emily Henry knew the way my own brain worked a little too well! The way the characters are thrown together in the beginning and live in constant denial made me desperately want to know what their undoing could possibly be. I like that both of them, to some degree, were people pleasers, making their relationship doomed from the start until they figured out healthier boundaries not just in their romantic partnership but also with their friends. It felt so refreshing to see people be adults and see how adult friendships truly do change over time. I definitely devoured this book faster than all the others so far.

While I thought the pacing was slower than I would have liked it to (because I like fast-paced books), I connected so deeply with a lot of the things being discussed in the story.

1. The feeling of not being enough for the ones we love is so scary— I think this book might have finally put a name/ phrase to this fear I have regarding relationships. To find someone that loves you for you is such a blessing.

2. Growing up and growing apart from your best friends— like Harriet, I'm the kind that just go with the flow and is usually being pulled along by friends. So when we as adults go our separate ways, it's hard to keep up especially when each of us is still struggling to figure out life.

Both Harriet and Wyn are both so relatable too. Harriet is a people-pleaser— always trying to not impose on others. On top of that, Harriet might also have childhood overachiever burnout/ imposter syndrome, which is something I think I'm also struggling with. I like how courageous Harriet is at the end of the book. I don't think I can ever make that kind of decision.

I also like how Wyn is not this typical confident guy full of charms and charisma. Instead he's this humble,  self-deprecating guy who is also just trying to figure out his life. I find it kind of adorable.
