me pareció bastante absurda.

I heart this series. Left hanging over a cliff at the end of volume 4, I expected this volume to pick up the pieces, but oh no, no. This volume starts with some of my favorite elements of storytelling: back in time, a sea voyage, a mystery, a diary, a forgotten cave filled with wondrously forgotten myth and legend. Really this hit all my sweet spots (haha), and all that is left is for volume 6 to come with a big chocolate cake.

The revelation about the mystical causes of the virus/hybrids is a little wanting, and this whole series has become very predictable. Still, there is something about Gus himself that is endearing and the art provides a really complimentary ambiance to the story.

This volume is broken into two arcs. The first, taking place in 1911, is too drawn out and involves slaughter of Indigenous people, I really wasn't interested, and it's 3 issues long. The second half of the book is better.

Time to wrap up the story in the next volume. It's been a time.

After a series of dramatic revelations is the volume's first arc, the story of vol. 5 settles into the more immediate conclusion of the band's current struggle for survival before propelling them onward to the inevitable, violent conclusions of the series.
