The premise is intriguing, and drew me in from the start. That being said, I found the protagonist to be a bit dull, just someone the plot is happening to for a majority of the book. And the descriptions and depictions of women was underwhelming. The themes are great though, I very much enjoyed seeing how different choices lead to different outcomes. The second half of the book I struggled to put down, and the ending had me thinking about it for days.

The premise of this book is promising, and in some ways executed well. However, it's very clear that the author is a man of his era, and that inescapably obvious identity seems to hold it back from revealing any truly unique depths.
