I’m not really familiar with the slasher sub-genre but damn that was good! I really enjoyed the whole concept of the terror simulation. At first I was just expecting a random killer appearing from nowhere but I loved how the story eventually unfolded!
The last pages really had me on the edge of my seat.So many plot twists I couldn’t process 😱😱

I almost DNF’d this book TWICE. Because unfortunately this was a weak story even though it has really solid potential… I knew it would be “campy” but I feel like there was something missing in the dialogue- like the words were falling flat, and things were still unexplained by the end of the book. Additionally, there was a lack of character background and development which made it hard to get invested. I hardly remembered who was who in the friend group, and the descriptions were SPARSE. the weird ass “owl” Group by elitist white people, was never explained in depth, and we don’t know who started the group, or why. It was trying to copy something like the Illuminati but the author rushed the end, and left chunks of the story out. I like that Charity in the end gets resurrected by her girlfriend who was the only survivor, but there was still so much that could’ve been added and less stuff in the beginning. Last thing to mention …I’m not a fan of a rushed ending, but at least this was a quick enough read. LOL

This was a fun time! Not for most of the characters, but for me. I’m not a huge horror reader so this book was a great, relatively light (if such a thing is possible with horror) foray into the genre for me. Parts of the plot were predictable, some felt a little random and some took me by surprise!
The writing was descriptive but not overly so, it was easy for me to picture the setting and the characters. I really liked the cast of characters, including the FMC Charity.
This would be a good intro to horror/slasher for anyone wanting to try it out as it’s not super full on or gory.
