I've been putting this series off for a while and I really don't know why because I already knew the author was amazing. This series start off amazing, too!

It was a very fun read and I can't wait for the next book. It took me a while to read it and that messed with the flow but overall it was good. The beginning was not all that great for me but the middle and end we're great and chapter 22 made me laugh pretty hard (but that is my type of humor and it may not be yours)

I liked this book. Had a new twist on magic for me. If you can add one item like that to your story it makes it all the better. I liked the world creation. Had some new type of people which made the story all that much more interesting. Very good read I would recommend it.

This series was by far one of the most influential I read in high school. It still means so much to me and is so fun to read at age 25.

A fun fantasy/adventure book. I can still picture where it was on the shelf at my local library because I checked it out so many times. The idea of doorways into another world from earth is always fun.

The prologue is gruesome. Mull is also very creative and I love his world building.

So, here is the question, what role does violence play in children's novels? When the original Grimm Fairy tales were told the world was a harsh place with many people barely sustaining themselves.

Over the last ten years I have witnessed more dark and violent children's literature. Though many of these books are scary I have still enjoyed them. I believe that parents should be ...

I loved it! This book was full of great characters, plot twists and was all together a great read! I had so much trouble putting it down and cannot wait to read the next book in the trilogy! Honestly, the ending was such a shocker!

A story about a teen-age boy transported in an entertaining way into another world. Pretty standard sci-fi/fantasy fare. This unfortuntely doesn't separate itself from many other much better offerings. A mostly generic tale with not much/any magic, a mostly omnipotent bad guy who is not always omnipotent, only by choice? A quest which only has a couple of climactic parts and a seriously bad cliffhanger at the end.

The story does have some inventive and interesting characters and several interesting locations but other than that it was neither good nor bad. The kids and I won't be listening to the next one.

Fantastic! A student recommended this series to me and I've been listening to it in the car. I had tried Mull's Fablehaven series before and wasn't too keen. The student had the same response (so far we have similar tastes in books) so I gave it a shot and am glad I did. My one criticism is that his female lead doesn't have much of a role so far and often he updates the action verbally instead of using his characters (one of them reports out to another). I guess that would be two criticisms, but really I loved this book!
