OMG, I don't know if I've ever indeed LOL'd before as many times as I did reading/listening to this book. Tara Sivec has quickly become a top favorite! I'm not sure if it's because she's from Ohio (where I was born and grew up) or because the setting is there on a lot of books, but damn, she can tell some great stories.

Noel, AKA Leon, is heading home for the holidays after a disastrous break-up and job loss. Toss in being homeless, and her life is pretty much in the dumps. While her flight is delayed at the airport and she's on the phone with her mom, she accidentally throws her beer on Sam, the veteran behind her.

She needs a date for Christmas, and now?

A 4.5 or higher but I will never stop reading her books.

So this is a really hilarious insta-love story that is low on angst, with lost of laughs and a bit of spice.

This is one of the books I read in December. I received it as a gift from the wonderful Yodamom. Thank you.

I usually don’t read many holiday themed books, but Im glad I did read this one.

It was not too long and not too short, even though it was a shorter book about 121 pages. I think it was the perfect length for this kind of book.

I think I spit sprayed my coffee, snorted, and laughed myself to tears more that I ever have in a Christmas themed read before. This little gem just snuck up on me. I wasn't expecting what was between the covers, and I loved it. Wacky crazy family drama to the extreme, wild family members, Christmas on steroids and the dairy product ban and more. It was insane but believable.
I'm not going to bother recapping the story, it's a sweet fun romance.
This was my first read from this author but not my last I already ordered another one from her.

Just a fun, fast, and funny read. I giggled throughout out the whole book. That Tara Sivec sure does know how to write about funny shenanigans. Great for Christmas time it was definitely a good read.

This hasn’t aged well and the humour was too cringe for me. When her ‘transvestite’ Aunt grabbed the MMC’s crotch as he first enters the house, I was put off, when the story continued to make transphobic jokes, I had to bail.
There was no reason to make this character trans, she could have just been a zany aunt with no boundaries, I would have even accepted a drag queen, but adding the jokes about her gender transformation was extremely gross. Trans people deserve all of our love and sensitivity and none of our mockery. I will die on this hill.

If you’ve read my reviews, you know I’m a little stingy with my 5 stars. I don’t hand out 5 star reviews like Tic Tacs, so I’m still trying to justify giving 5 stars to this fluffy 131-page Rom Com. All I know is that in the midst of hectic Christmas preparations, I thoroughly enjoyed Tara Sivec’s well written, whimsical holiday love story from beginning to end.

I loved Sam and Noel’s whirlwind romance cloaked in their boyfriend-girlfriend façade. You know that InstaLove that we readers find so implausible? Sam and Noel are skeptics too, and are the first to voice the absurdity of their emotions. You can’t deny they’re perfectly suited for each other though. They both need a little nurturing, some laughter, and a lot of good lovin’ in their lives. Tara Sivec delivers playfulness one minute followed by heavy steam the next.

Noel’s hilarious family has a one-way first class ticket to Crazy Town. Her handsy Aunt Bobbie, cock-blocking dad, wedding hungry mom, and bullying brother help elevate what could be an average formulaic plot into a special treat.

The Stocking Was Hung has the perfect balance of nostalgia, laugh out loud humor, and sexiness. Yes, at times it’s over the top which would normally make me take off a half star, but it’s a Christmas fairytale of sorts. I was willing to buy into the fantasy and overlook the absurdity, but it might not be your thing. As for me, reading this book will be a new holiday tradition.

The Stocking Was Hung
The Stocking Was Hung by Tara Sivec
Standalone Holiday Romantic Comedy
Once again, Tara made me laugh my ass off, smile, and hug my kindle when I finished a book of hers. I usually read 2-3 holiday books a year, and The Stocking Was Hung by Tara Sivec may be my favorite ever! While most holiday stories are parts of other series, The Stocking was Hung was it's own little standalone. But boy, I hope we see more from these characters, because I love them almost as much as the gang from the Chocolate Lovers!

Noel has one crazy, Christmas loving family. She has a meddling mom who wants her married with kids on the way, but right before she travels home for Christmas with her family, she split up with her boyfriend of one year. When she meets Sam, a Marine on his way home in the airport, she invited him to join her at home, and pretend to be the boyfriend. So you can imagine where this went! A tough guy marine, pretending to be someone else? A HOT marine who never had a family, and hasn't been with a woman in 18 months trying to keep away and just 'pretend' with the hot chick from the airport? I think not.
fadedquotePut your hands on the wall,” he orders me in a hushed tone...

“I need to touch you. Just for a minute, I promise. Please, let me touch you,” he begs in a low voice, his breath puffing against my ear as he takes the edge of my lobe in between his teeth and tugs on it.

Wow, what a completely over-the-top crazy family! I have met Tara's husband and cousin, and the fact that Tara says they are the tame ones explains where she got her inspiration for the whacko family in The Stocking Was Hung.
fadedquoteYou should be happy your father and I still have such an active sex life. Thank God for his medical marijuana prescription. I was getting a little bored with always being on top because of the arthritis in his hips. He’s much more agile when he’s high.”

From handsy Aunt/Uncle Bobbie to a milk hating father to a meddling mother, we have another amazing cast of supporting characters who I really hope we get to visit with for another holiday. But really, Noel was the silliest of all. I loved her and wanted to be her friend!
fadedquoteAnd just like that, my vagina bursts into flames and I feel like it was completely unnecessary for the owners of this place to shovel the walk. I could just sit down on the sidewalk and scoot across it on my ass like a dog trying to itch its butt. My vagina would melt all the snow and ice in a matter of seconds."

How's that for descriptive narration?

The Down and Dirty:

The Stocking Was Hung was everything I love about reading. It made me happy. I was laughing and smiling, caught up in the romance (and hot sex). This book is destined to become an annual Christmas read for me. Think "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" with a sexy, romantic spin on it. The Stocking Was Hung was deliciously dirty, incurably romantic, over-the-top silly, heartwarming and laugh out loud funny. What more could you want from a book? JUST MORE.
