The best book of the series!!! Unexpected, swiftly developing events make the book hard to put aside!!! Claire and Shane's relationships are touching and wonderful, there are funny moments between Eve and Michael. I liked Oliver in this book and Myrnin is adorable!!! Great installment in the series!!!

I need Black Dawn, RIGHT NOW!
Last Breath has all the action and suspense as all the other Morganville novels do.
Except, someone DOES take their last breath!
I really need the next book.

Speechless.
This entire book was so freaking tense and insane and well written. Amelie’s POV was not something I’d realized I needed. And the POV swaps are done right this time, not that vague, annoying internal monologuing.
Seems fitting after I just bitched about repeated threats… because this one is big. And new. And obviously at least a two booker. People are dying. Vamps are dying.
And I will love Myrnin until the end of time. And Oliver is worming his way into my heart too, but I’m sure he’ll be a douche bag again as soon as I start up book 12.
Oh yeah! LGBTQ+ representation finally! Not like, the spotlight or focus or anything, but in BFE Texas who hates the gays, a 1,000+ year old vamp lady, and you know in her time it wasn’t allowed. So, some kudos to Rachel Caine for that - maybe it’ll be a little more prominent going forward and wasn’t just for the sake of “giving us a gay.”
Oh Morganville, how I have missed you! This is one of those series that just keeps pulling you in with each story the author creates. I just love revisiting Morganville and the town to get my vampire fix!
The book starts out with the planning of Eve and Michael's wedding. They are trying to get the permission needed in a vampire/human marriage from Amelie while also trying to get the humans to agree to it as well. During the process of the planning, vampires start to disappear when a new face shows up in town named Magnus. Magnus is not human, but he is not quite vampire either. When Claire starts to piece together who he really is, the town is already in battle and beloved characters will be lost to the fight. While Amelie wants the vampires to run and find a new home, Claire and her friends are determined to save their town.
I have to say that this book in the series I think is my favorite so far. Not only did so many things happen that the reader will not expect, but the way the author changes the Point of View around was greatly satisfying. The series has been focused mainly on Claire's Point of View (POV), but in Last Breath we get to read from Shane, Eve, Michael and Amelie as well. We got to see glimpses of what each character was feeling and thinking throughout the story. The only character that I hoped she would include was Myrnin, but we never get to see inside his crazy head. Hopefully in the next book she will explore his mind as well.
If you plan on reading this book from the series, have some tissues on hand and be prepared for your emotions to be thrown all over the place. You will cry, gasp in suspense, cringe in fear and be yelling for your favorites to win! One of the best in the series of eleven so far!

I feel like this is probably my favorite book out of the entire series. I don't really know how to explain it but mostly I didn't end up hating anyone that much or think any of the main characters were annoying as fuck. So that is always a plus in my book.

Last Breath was an okay book with a dash of interesting twists and turns.

Then there's Amelie and Oliver. I don't know who peed in her cereal but the hell was with Amelie in this book?!? She went bat shit crazy so quickly that I actually started not to like her. AND when Oliver, FREAKING OLIVER, had to step in and say she's basically crazy as fuck and no one wants to deal with her shit anymore because she's making terrible decisions ...was weird as fuck. I don't know how I feel about that situation either - hopefully one day I can wrap my head around that.
Plus the whole Myrnin thing when he basically said that he has feelings for Claire made me cringe so hard. I don't ship them together at all. I guess I will stay on the ship of Claire and Shane.
Overall, it was better than book 10 and things are starting to pick up my interest. I hope it keeps happening until I read the last book.

Claire, who was once so I annoying to me at first, has slowly started to become less annoying. She's not all the way there but she's getting closer to becoming a good main character. At least for me. Then there's Shane, who I honestly have nothing to say about. He's just Shane. Now onto Michael and Eve - I adore their relationship and sort of approve their marriage? I'm not quite sure how I feel about it yet.
