The most enjoyable parts of this series remain the interactions of Guido with his family. An odd thing to say about a detective series, but true nonetheless!

Eh im on the fence with this one but I am glad it’s over. I always enjoy a murder mystery but this one just dragged on and I felt that there wasn’t really a strong enough plot to keep me engaged.
I was curious to who was the murderer and why and I just wasn’t impressed. I don’t think I will be reading any more in this series.

3.5* I rounded it up to 4 because of characters, which are very believable and real. Plot-wise, the second installment in the Brunetti series is weaker than the first one. The law doesn’t win. A lot of threads are left unresolved. The justice is served to only one of the perpetrators and not in the manner Brunetti would have wanted it.

A good Leon, the books are good in small bursts, but begin to get repetitive if you read many in a row. It was a good refreshing read after a while, less action and more intrigue. Brunetti is a more familiar, realistic main character.
