Holy effing HOT

Be prepared for some epic steamy sex scenes! Nothing too kinky, and with the trigger warning I expected worse. Definitely hot tho. The epilogue's revelation was completely expected with the build up. I can't wait to read more.

Holy smut yall

So I went into this book blind, friend recommended I should read it and they were right!! This book has the perfect balance of smut and plot and I am just dying for more!! Saige is such a relatable character (minus the men hanging off her) and she is so quirky and funny.

Honestly, could have been a lot worse. I think the more unconventional the cast, the more I’m willing to overlook bad writing. Cringey, but fun once you get past that.

The Magic of Discovery is the first book in a reverse harem paranormal romance series. I really enjoyed it. While parts of it felt very predictable, it was still a really fun read. It definitely sets up for the rest of the series. I really like all the characters so far. I am not particularly found of prophecies in books because they often give too much away. I am interested in seeing if the other books have any unexpected twists.

The romance so far is good. It’s very instalove so far but I like that. The only downside of instalove is that I feel like I still only really know them at the surface level. The mm relationships feel just as important as the mf which I really like. Final impression is that I am going to continue the series to see where it goes.

The Magic of Discovery is the first book within the Emerald Lakes series. In it, you will meet Saige who absolutely loves her small town. It's where everyone knows everyone and it's pretty safe too. Though things do get a lot more interesting once some new guys roll into town.

Enter Cam, Sloane, Kai, and Fischer. Four guys sent out on a secret mission who end up being mesmerized by Saige. She's fun girl to be around but also mysterious. Heck, the guys are mysterious too. So, it's pretty safe to assume that I instantly starting shipping them with her. Of course, there's always one person who is going be stubborn and that's Sloane. Mister tough guy.

Eventually he will cave, and when that happens, I will enjoy it all. Other than that, we get a harry potter prophecy that confused the heck out of me. We also find out that demons are sort of after here and killing her poor plants. I'm hoping we get more answers in the next book and maybe see her mom?

In the end, I'm hooked just enough because I can't wait for certain things to happen. Also, can I steal Gran from her?

I was really hoping to like this book more than I did but I had some trouble with its tone. I couldn’t tell if it was supposed be a rom-com, a spicy why-choose, or a mysterious fantasy. I guess it was supposed to be a mix of the three but it suffered for it

I found the suspense was fairly predictable and that plots that could have been more exciting got rushed in order to fit in another steamy scene

I also struggled with the dialogue, which seemed a bit juvenile to me. We have 30 year old males saying “shit sticks” and a 27 year old female calling something the “the bomb” unironically. Then there were lines like “she couldn’t sugar coat something if she was holding a 5-pound bag of sugar”. I found myself cringing a lot

That said, I did enjoy the characters and their dynamics, especially with the M/M pairings and the different personalities. I think this book could have worked better if it were longer and was a standalone with a full mystery rather than a series.

Unfortunately I’m not intrigued enough to continue with the series
