I only got so far as about 2 months into my high school class in Chemistry, so I learned a ton in this book, it was very interesting! I think they did a good job, too, with pointing out the sexism in science and highlighting how much the women discoverers managed to do despite their extremely sexist environments.

Full of fun facts. Runs the gamut from chemistry to astrobiology.

This is a really excellent example of skilled science writing, and Kean also weaves a good bit of fascinating biography and history into the mix.

Some really good anecdotes, but at times was a little too technical for my taste

Even though I found it to be a bit disorganized, I enjoyed this quirky science book. Some background in chemistry and/or physics does make it easier to digest a couple of chapters. But overall, I think Kean did a good job at breaking down “hard science” topics.

Was interesting at first, then it got too boring, it became more about the history of chemistry than chemistry itself
