Satisfying ending to a series that may have aged unevenly, but is still a delight for readers today with the patience to persevere. A delightful introduction to Tamora Pierce for me.

This is probably going to be spoilery.

So Thom wasn't evil, just foolish and prideful. Delia though...she's evil and we knew that way back in Book 2. I love how free Alanna is to love and be loved and how none of her fellows mind that she hasn't decided on any of them -- TOTALLY a 1970s vibe.

And of course the cat didn't survive. Josiane was awful.

I feel like this could be turned into a GREAT series that really fleshes out some of the side characters. Like we'd see more of Delia and Josiane, figure out what the heck Alex wanted? Did he feel left out? Had Robert done some kind of magic on him? Maybe dive into Robert's past when he was making all of these...horcruxes?

Reading this series was a fun way to spend the last week of August.
