This was a quick listen that I raced through in one day. While the dual narrations definitely added interest to the plot, I didn’t like it nearly as much as this pair’s book The Last Mrs. Parrish. The story dragged with a lot of repetition, unnecessary details, and many red herrings only to wrap up much too quickly with a crazy twist in the last few chapters.
I’m waving my proverbial white flag here: Liv Constantine beat me fair and square. I love trying to predict where thrillers are headed, and often I find that I’m correct, but this was absolutely not one of those times. I actually feel like I need to reread this entire thing just to fully wrap my head around what the author has done; I must have missed a hint or a clue somewhere, but the deceit is so flawless that I don’t even know where to look. I truly applaud her efforts for writing such a wickedly crafted tale, let alone one that leads you, crumb by crumb, to a final act that seems inevitable but turns out to be unthinkable.
