My first ARC review!
Enjoyed this more than I was expecting to. It left me feeling very hopeful, to be able to read everyone’s experience in the bookselling/librarian world! It touched on topics such as the recent book banning, representation within the book world, and community’s coming together over their love of reading. The only thing is that it doesn’t really deep dive into anything really. Ultimately, that doesn’t bother me too much considering that each chapter is fairly short and from a different perspective. I think it’s a great book to introduce people into the behind the scenes aspect of the world of books. Overall, I really enjoyed this and it was a great, feel good read!

There were some really interesting stories in this. Each story is only a couple of pages long from a bookseller or librarian. One bookseller owned a store I just went to on vacation, so that was an interesting connection. After about 20 stories, though, I got the gist and grazed through the rest of the book.

Since this is a new book it has people documenting the challenges they had to face against right-wing book banners and extremism that has really jumped up lately. It really pisses me off when people go on about “freedoms and rights” but then want to take them away from others.

James Patterson's attempt to give back to librarians and booksellers everyone who stocks every permutation of his books in multiple copies. I thought so many of these stories fell flat and missed the looming crisis of literature, critical thinking, and book bans. We are whistling in the dark here.
