This is chicken soup for the bookworm’s soul, but it’s way too much chicken soup. Please, gimme a goddamn grilled cheese or somethin to go with it.

What I mean is- the stories are fun, some of the first ones nearly brought a tear to my eye. But then they’re all short, often very similar, and we’re just retreading the same ground. I’d say only read half, but the quality is mixed so you might miss some of the better stuff.

There was one guy who briefly touched on rare books, but I’d like more on that. I’m curious about finances, online sellers, etc. I just wish this book cut the personal stories by maybe a third and then added more research. How many books are thrown out a year? Do little free libraries help or hurt local libraries? How evil, exactly, is Amazon? It’s not the point, I get that, but I wish the focus had expanded a little.

I loved the idea of this book....but when I got reading it, it didn't really grab me. Sorry James Patterson. Abandoned.

I loved, loved, loved this book. It was cute and inspiring, and really just strengthened my desire to be a part of this community.

3* — Sweet but Repetitive

This is a warm, feel-good collection of real stories from booksellers and librarians that celebrates the magic of reading and community. I loved the heart behind it, but after a while, the stories started to blend together since most follow the same pattern. It’s a cozy, uplifting read in small doses, but not something I’d binge cover-to-cover.

-contained no secrets
-Barnes and Noble is not a hero
-why are they all in present tense??

About a tenth of the stories were interesting.
