Thrilling, creepy and with the scariest villain ever. I really really enjoyed it and I can't wait to keep on reading this series.

I didn't think it was possible to love a book in this series more than I loved Stalker (#5), and then I read The Sandman. Growing up The Sandman is mentioned in children's stories. Leave it to Lars Kepler to take an innocent story "character" and turn it into something to be feared.
Joona Linna with the help of his partner Sam Mendel caught and put away infamous serial killer Jurek Walter. The world never knew about him because he was so good making people disappear. Walter didn't stop there though, he would not only take one person, he took their family members too. No evidence, no witnesses, nothing to go on. Linna always assumed Jurek Walter had a partner, and it became even more evident when Mikael Kohler-Foster appeared. He and his sister, Felicia, had vanished without a trace years earlier. Now he's back saying Felicia is still alive. Time is of the essence if they want to save her life.
Just like book #3, this one will have your heart pounding, pulse racing and keep you up past your bedtime to see if Felicia is still alive. Jurek Walter is probably one of the most terrifying fictional serial killers I have ever read about. I read a lot of this book during the day because what he did to the people/families he took is just downright disturbing. Unfortunately, SPOILER ALERT: Jurek Walters story is not over yet. I can't wait to see which book he shows up in next. I have already read #5, so it's on to #6 The Rabbit Hunter!

The Sandman By Lars Kepler

Another disturbing Scandi Crime novel! It gets a little confusing with all these Swedish places and names, but it’s an addicting read! This book is part of a series, but I read it as a stand alone novel and had no issues with it!

A young man, Mikael, is found wandering through a blizzard, claiming “The Sandman” has his sister still. Turns out Mikael has been missing for 13 years, but his alleged killer is currently in maximum security?? The story is told mainly through the detectives POV, with some focus on other big characters as well. Definitely recommend it!

Amazing book. I couldn't get to the end fast enough, it was so riveting. Lars Kepler gets better and better by the day. Some passages of the book made my heart thump so loud... This is the faithful definition of a thriller.

A serial killer who keeps captives, kills some, and is out to get revenge? Sign me up! This is the fourth book in the Joona Linna series and these books just keep getting better. THE SANDMAN is definitely my favorite so far (followed by The Fire Witness, The Hypnotist, and The Nightmare). The pace of the book was perfect, the chapters are only 1-4 pages, and there was always something going on that made you want to keep turning the pages, so I was flying through the 500+ pages of this one. THE SANDMAN can definitely be read as a stand alone, but as I’ve said before, I have loved reading this series in order, so I recommend doing so if you can!
