This was better than the first book although all the changes in time and place did weary me. Was he remembering or simply recalling what he had read in the diary? the author drew some of the story lines together. I think she developed the characterisation well and it was an easy read. I would be interested in the third instalment of the series.
I received an ARC through NetGalley because I had read the first one through NetGalley. It took me a minute to get into it because I couldn't quite remember the details of the first book, but once it started coming back to me I really got into it. Just like the first one, it had great mystery and a nice flow. Ms. Lonsdale is a good storyteller. I didn't want to put it down. I think I liked reading James/Carlos side of the story even more than Aimee's and of course it ends with a foreshadowing for a next book, so I'll have to read that one also. My only recommendation is to cut out the language. It is unnecessary and just ruins pieces of the book for me.
My review and feelings of this second instalment are basically the same as the first. Was really hoping it would be better, but the going around in repetitive circles drove me absolutely crazy.
A simple, convenient and predictable storyline with barely fleshed out characters and cheesy dialogue which somewhat redeemed itself with its ending. I read the first book in this series directly before this second book which slightly increased the enjoyment. Now that I think of it, maybe it would have made for a more solid story if the contents of the two books had been combined. But then again, maybe not. Thankfully, it was a fairly short, fast read.
Thank you to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for providing a digital copy in return for an honest, unbiased review.

Enjoyable as an easy, soapy read, but nothing that qualifies it as a "must read".
I know that these types of books appeal to many readers, but there wasn't much of substance here.

I enjoyed Everything We Left Behind more than Everything We Keep. It would be hard to just read EWLB without reading the first. This was suspenseful and interesting, although I could have done without some of the romantic elements I see their importance to the story. 4/5
Kerry Lonsdale has done it again I have been waiting for this story to come back to me. The saga between Carlos (or is it James?) and Aimee continues in this absolutely fantastic work of fiction. The heartache and intrigue is palpable and you cannot tear yourself away from the pages. Just do yourself a favor and read this follow up to Everything We Keep. You family can fend for themselves for a day (that's all the time you'll need for this one).

I received an ARC of EWLB in exchange for an honest opinion. Here goes.
I can't remember how I first discovered Kerry Longsdale last year, with her debut novel Everything We Keep, but I was beyond thankful I did. I absolutely devoured EWK, and it left me wanting so much more! I had to find out more - would Aimee stay with Ian, would she find her way back to James, what would James remember, how awful was James' family, really... and so much more. Well, rest assured friends.... Questions are answered - Not all, but most. I will not give away any spoilers here, I'll just go on to say, once again Kerry delivers - on point!
This time around the book goes back and forth between present time and the years James was living as Carlos. We get more of James/Carlos' backstory - we get to know Nat, Carlos' sister-in-law, and we even get some great interaction between James/Aimee/Ian.
I absolutely LOVED EWLB, and have another Kerry Book Hangover. I will read anything Kerry writes, so I am hoping her next book is coming out soon!!
I highly suggest Everything We Left Behind, but strongly encourage readers to read Everything We Keep first for a better understanding of all the players in the book.
