Unique sci-fi with dystopian and Afrofuturism elements. Very similar vibes to “The Blighted Stars”, but not as well written. Too much male ego for my tastes. The plot is interesting and pacing was steady despite jumping between 3 points in the timeline. I will probably read the rest of the trilogy because I want to see where it goes.

I am bored to DEATH. There's nothing exciting, the MMC is dry and uninteresting, I don't like him, he's just a flat character who is giving me NOTHING to like about him or any reason to care about the story.

Oscillating between 2 and 3 stars.
This gave me major N.K. Jemisin vibes in that it's afro-futurism, the world building is massive and cool, and I frequently have no idea what's going on. The three separate timelines were difficult for me to keep track of to the extent that it would take me half a chapter to figure out which storyline I was in. That combined with many characters with unfamiliar names and the nebulous xenosphere where essentially anything can happen and nothing makes sense anyways made for a confusing, if intriguing, read.
