I am bored to DEATH. There's nothing exciting, the MMC is dry and uninteresting, I don't like him, he's just a flat character who is giving me NOTHING to like about him or any reason to care about the story.
Oscillating between 2 and 3 stars.
This gave me major N.K. Jemisin vibes in that it's afro-futurism, the world building is massive and cool, and I frequently have no idea what's going on. The three separate timelines were difficult for me to keep track of to the extent that it would take me half a chapter to figure out which storyline I was in. That combined with many characters with unfamiliar names and the nebulous xenosphere where essentially anything can happen and nothing makes sense anyways made for a confusing, if intriguing, read.

Wow what a love/hate read. I almost stopped about three times but I just couldn't put it down. I really disliked being in the main characters head but I loved the world building and the plot. Also such an interesting structure, there were a couple of times I paused in the middle of a chapter and I forgot what year it was.
