I do enjoy these books which have a tight focus on a particular species. I enjoyed learning more about the hare (since I knew very little about it) in a nature sense (I didn't know they didn't have burrows or anywhere to hide, they just run or stay very still if they're young) but also in folklore and culture. I really enjoyed the mix of the biology sense but also pulling up parts of literature which talk about hares and the view they had in popular culture throughout the centuries.

This is a delightful little book that introduces the various aspects of the hare from their biology and life cycle to their place in human myth and folklore. There isn't a lot of new information in this but as an introduction to the species, or a pleasant reminder of how intriguing an animal they are, it is a joy to read.

Ideal book for anyone wanting to know more about the natural history and mythology of the hair. I wish there had been less on hare coursing and hunting and more on the mythology. But a very informative read.

Largely focused on human interactions with and stories of the hare. Aside from quoted poetry and other passages, pacing is quick and straightforward. Makes for an interesting and easy read!
