Would it be weird to call a memoir entertaining? 🤔because that what what it was to me .
I related to a lot of the experiences that she had as someone who lives in an African country and was born in an African country but I don’t know somethings just felt a bit overdramatic to me which makes no sense ik but I don’t know.
Also maybe it’s just me but if you have to tell everyone that you are “an awkward black girl”, doesn’t that mean that you are not as awkward as you think 🤷🏾‍♀️.
But hey if you are looking for an entertaining audiobook to listen to then definitely check out this one

Loved listening to Issa read her book! The only reason I didn’t rate it higher is because the timeline jumped around a bit and I wanted more! So funny though.

The fatphobia!!! Absolutely horrendous. The way Issa talks about fat bodies is so harmful and hurtful and really disappointing.

I LOVE Issa Rae. I LOVE AWG web series. I thought this book was great. I couldn't connect with the Issa's own issues on relationships born from her experiences with her own parents. It also made me weirdly sad for her even though I should not have been.

I wanted to like it, and I tried. This is Issa Rae we are talking about after all. It does not live up to the hype for me.

I totally forgot about this book but it was quite funny. More like a 3.5 though.
