I really enjoyed this book and flew through it. I felt like the portrayal of anxiety/depression was very well written and relatable. I’m looking forward to reading more by this author in the future.

At first, I didn’t like this book. It’s very slow going for most of it. However, as I got to the end I began to recognize that it’s actually a very good representation of dissociation from anxiety/depression/hopelessness. A good portrait of how mental illness begins to invade someone’s psyche, then isolates them. I appreciated that it was written with the present timeline interspersed with fragments of memories and short moments because it showed how disjointed it can be to cope with feeling meaningless and confused.

The very last page ended on such a light, delightful note too.

Wait but why was this actuallu so good?? Like it was funny, the writing really reflected her progression but like not too obviously, it almosy madd me cry, it was poignant, it was flea bag esq, it highlighted systematic problems with just the right amount of subtlety, it didnt even feel like ‘yeah urgh everyone feels pointless ur not special’ lol
V good

I felt like i was talking to tillia lol

‘She asked me for a glass of water before we went to bed. Knowing every glass I own is rotting in my closet, I froze. Ultimately, I rinsed out an old Gatorade bottle and filled it with tap water. She took the bottle and said, "Do you not have any cups?" I stumbled to explain that I preferred water in old Gatorade bottles, and thought maybe she might too.’

‘If I were to avoid buildings built for sad women, however, I would be homeless’

‘I mentally turn the pages in my hefty catalog of regrets I keep archived in my mind.’

‘There are a lot of things on earth that I think would be considered magic if they weren't real.’
