Felt suspiciously close to things SJM has written…like a mix of ACOTAR and TOG characters and plot line. Even with very similar names.

I also felt like the constant fighting between Scarlet and Sorin were exhausting. As was Scarlet never listening to anyone and constantly being combative to everyone.

Loved it & thought the narrator (Summer Roberts) did a great job. I am anxious to continue the series.

“I am someone who has faced the darkness and found the beauty it had to offer. I am someone who can create stars in the void when the light has gone out. I am someone who cares for those the realms have forgotten. I am someone who can bring beauty from brutal ashes. ”

As I continue into the second book of the Lady of Darkness series. There is a lot of learning and grown in this book.

We are introduced to a lot about the Fae Courts and the power elementals that play a big role in the world of how their lifestyle.

This book does focus on more of the characters’ development along with the side characters too. We develop relationships and working on healing from the past and even present.

All the questions that were asked at the end of book 1 are somewhat answered but now.. more questions after book 2.

OF COURSE

I do feel like this book could have been better. Comparing it to the first book, the first book was better than this one. I think the main thing that annoyed me was the constant fighting between Scarlett & Sorin. It was such a waste of time. Like get OVER IT!

Then Callan, good gods. I couldn’t WAIT till he fucking found out. Mans was just a fucking man child BEGGING for Scarlett to look at him like she looked at Sorin.

I also didnt understand the Talwyn, I actually liked her. She had every fucking right to be the way she is now. I liked her chemistry with that “guy”

I just think Scarlett was just being a bit of a brat but I get it but like I don’t.

Also Eliza, you are my sweet bestie. I love you darling.
Along with Ashtani too lol

Whaaaaaaaat?! That ending?? I’m shook. Also, loved that FMC got called out for being dense about 🔥🔥 .
I love the Fire Court. Prince Human is such a whiny baby. His guards should call his ass out. So many thoughts but the ending really has me like a 404 error message rn.

I did not want to put this book down. It pulled me in from the beginning. I loved the new characters from the Fae lands. I’m undecided still on Callan’s POV chapters. I’m sure there will be a reason down the road. I want chapters from Cassius’ POV. I love the banter with her court. Scarlett is still being to independent, so I hope that goes away in the next book, but I really look forward to finishing the series and I’m glad it’s finished.

This book just never really clicked with me like the first in the series. It just dragged on with adults refusing to just talk to each other. Characters say they are friends/allies/family, but really don’t act like it.

Scarlett remains badass, however. I like her.
