What a great way to start the 2024 new year! This book was fantastic! I enjoyed it better than book 1 and book 1 was a 4.5 star for me. Totally addicted to this series and I’m so excited to start book 3.

3.5. The story is still pretty good. But the details are extremely frustrating. The dialogue is immature—these are centuries-old immortal beings, not teenagers. Even the twenty-year-old acts too young for her age. The actions these people take are also fairly wild at times.

There is definitely a need for a better editor. The vocabulary and sentence structure need serious work.

The main female character is a brat, it almost makes this story unreadable at how little control she has over her emotions. She is whiny, hypocritical and obnoxious.

I enjoyed this book. There were a few moments when it slowed down for me and I was finding it a bit tedious. Specifically Scarlett and Sorin's relationship. It just seemed like there was bit too much of Scarlett resting and being sad and her and Sorin arguing. I know Scarlett has been through a lot, but honestly I was ready for her to kind of move past the trauma processing (as horrible as it is to say). I just found myself saying, "Alright, let's move on."

I still liked this book. I liked a lot of the side characters. Especially Talwyn and Azriel. I'm excited to see more of them. Also, the plot, lore, and world-building in this book were really good. It set us up well for the next book and I'm excited to keep reading the series. Overall, I did enjoy the writing a lot and my read in general!
