The second book in the series didn't feel quite as predictable as the first and the plot is thickening.

We meet lots of new characters in the fae lands (which I can't be expected to remember at this point, so I hope they're not THAT important

I loved everything about this. The writing, the banter, the quotes, and the rep of trauma was handled beautifully. My literal only complaint was Callan as a character because he is insufferable and needs to be yeeted not only out of Scarlett's life but out of the book as a whole. Other than that I found that I have no complaints. And that ending?! I am starting book 3 immediately.

I have really enjoyed the story in the first two books. The characters are well done. My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the dramatics from the FMC feel overdrawn quite a bit and I get whiplash. They are good, then they're fighting, now they're good, now they're fighting. Otherwise these are great so far and I will definitely finish the series.

I enjoyed reading more about the main characters and finding out their back story. Learning and meeting new side characters, while also discovering their dynamics, kept my interest. At times I found the pacing went quick and passed over the scene or situation, while other times it slowed down, nonetheless it kept my attention and I had to keep listening. Reading the book within a couple of days. I was entertained where the story went and I'm thrilled to continue the series.
