Again, communication could have solved a lot of the conflict between Scarlett and Sorin.
4.5 rounded up. The change in POVs is throwing me because it’s third person but it keeps pulling me out of the story.
I cannot stand Scarlett. I like all the other characters and loved their chapters. Scarlett is just annoying AF. There are plot holes here and there, but it’s overall an entertaining story. I was going to give this two stars but the last 10% of the book added a star. I would probably really love this series if it wasn’t for Scarlett. Which is hard to get around, seeing as she is the FMC.

There are definitely some parallels with ACOTAR and TOG, but I’m really enjoying it!

I'm going to give this book a 4/5 even though I loved it and flew through it... reasons for the 4 star instead of 5:
1. Character growth has been lacking, its the same mistakes from both Scarlett and Sorin over and over again. I wish there was a bit more progression.
2. The writing style although fast paced and intriguing is still a little sloppy.
3. There are A LOT of parallels to both the ACOTAR and Throne of Glass series (which I love) and at one point (Sorin having a cabin at the top of a mountain in the woods) it felt like a bit too much to just be a fantasy romance coincidence.
With those bad comments I still want to say it absolutely still deserves four stars because of the following reasons:
1. I loved the book and I can't wait to see what happens.
2. I am excited with the prospect that there are still so many challenges to overcome without the author making it seem too intimidating unlike other series. The actual plot of the story is super intriguing (its mostly the romance that feels duplicated to me).
3. I like the addition of Talwyn and I'm excited to see that character grow.
4. The ending has me INVESTED.
