I love the book but I can’t stand the main FMC, she’s very childish and annoying
This book just cannot hold my interest. Also this is basically a knockoff of ACOTAR/TOG. Almost identical scenarios happening in this that happens in SJM books
ok again the story is fun and interesting but this writing is severely lacking. biggest thing i’ve realized: the material isn’t very original; be it the overuse of tropes or descriptors or other places/locations - let’s just say it’s clear she’s read TOG and ACOTAR. it is SO obvious she tried to write another Aelin except unlike Aelin, Scarlett just needs her ass kicked or to be tossed to the side lol. Sorin is 100% a Rowan rewrite except you can’t top Rowan so, he was doomed from the beginning
if you don’t like the miscommunication trope then you’ll die if you read this book. im barely hanging on……….. why can’t people just talk !!!
the spicey scenes in this are boring, nothing unique. two side characters had a better scene in half the pages… so it’s really diminished the chemistry from the main characters honestly
i will say: the world is really cool, i like the elemental magic, and i like the history and where this is going. there are many things i have questions for and that alone is enough to keep me going but if the main character dies i won’t be sad hahah

I think I’ll settle for a 4.25. I was going back and forth between a 4 star and 4.5 star read so I’ll just put it right in the middle.
I LOVE all the characters in this series. (Minus Callan, he can eat rocks) (and also minus all the villains obviously) I loved the reveals we got and the little tidbits of info that foreshadow more to come in the rest of the series. This plot is working HARD. My only complaint is that I found some aspects to be a bit redundant or drawn out. The whole Callan plot line… I was over it. He became too whiney and it annoyed me. The words Scarlett and Sorin declare to each other got to be a bit redundant after a while. Still a really solid Fanro read!
