Phewww what an ending, I did not expect that! Book 2 was definitely a better read to me than book 1. It had a steady flow but did occasionally have slower parts that I struggled to get through. Plus I like a good spice scene, but love when there’s spicy scenes for multiple characters. They did not disappoint!! Spice aside, Scarlett really be getting on my last nerve so thank goodness for the side characters that called her out. I feel for Sorin because I’m also a victim of Scarlett’s secrets and I was mad at the stuff she kept from me too! But I did really enjoy the progression of her powers and finding out her history more. I hope there’s more delving into Sorin’s past in the next book because what has he been doing for all these years?? We know the bits wjth Talwyn and when he watched his parents (ya know) but there’s a pretty big gap there. I’m looking forward to how the queens will work together and their relationship developing. Also ready for Nuri to be brought back, I miss her.

I’ll start by saying this, if you haven’t read anything by SJM, you will probably love this!!
However, being a huge SJM Universe fan, this was disappointing. This felt so copied & pasted. Some of the characters are the exact same with just a different name. If it was just a trope, I’d be on board. But this has ended up being ACOTAR & ToG mushed together & character name changes. A few have said there is FBAA vibes too. I’m just disappointed. I wanted a new fantasy read, this did not fulfill that!

It's an enjoyable read, however the direct side-by-side of the SJM universes are blatant, down to the dreamers and stars. The pace is also quite slow.
Book 2 was also great. It was a little slow in places. At times it seemed all that was happening was trying to figure out what was happening. I am looking forward to book 3.
the first 60% of this was 1* but the last 40% was 4* so i guess this is an average?? not even close to being as good as the first book
