This novel struck just the right balance of romance for me—sweet, a little bit spicy for YA, but never explicit. I thoroughly enjoyed it! It was exactly the light, refreshing read I needed after finishing a much darker book. The perfect palate cleanser.
For readers who loved Queens Gambit and think holding hands makes you a dirty, dirty girl (aka I didn’t realize this was YA). It’s very…YA.
I enjoy a good Ali Hazelwood book as much as the next person, and this one was cute but lacked the oomph of some of her other novels. Nolan was adorable and so supportive of Mallory, and their blossoming friendship/relationship was fun to read, but past the 50% mark the book really started drag.
It’s worth reading but don’t expect fireworks.

I really liked this one! Even though it was her YA debut, it gave all of the feels of a Ali Hazelwood staple! There were a few times where I teared up listening to this because I feel like what Mallory (the main FMC) was feeling, was super relatable! Her and Nolan were a great match up, and even though there was the drama that happened between the two of them, they were able to resolve it quickly, instead of it harping on like other YA books I have read in the past!
