My only critique is that I wish it was longer. Super cute!

This is a 4.5 rating due to the third act because. I like the twist this book had on the rivals to lovers trope along with Mallory's inner monologue, the on page chemistry and the slight cliffhanger at the end regarding their relationship. So if you have this book read it and I hope you will love it as much as I did.

I love this book so much. So many relatable things. I love nolan’s character and i think that is exactly my type
Daww... lol this was great, I love how well the FMC is written and the struggles she is dealing with. I wanted this to be more than YA sooo bad, and often times it did not feel YA with the adult language and lol - but I really enjoyed this. Once again Ali has given me a story that was unputdownable. I laughed out loud, I audibly detested Koch-Block, and I felt all the feels for the pain in this one. What a fun read.

My first read of 2024 is 5 stars with no hesitation. Before reading this, I never thought I’d show an interest in chess because it’s boringggg. BUT THIS? Man, I love chess.
Mallory and Nolan had PERFECT chemistry and he was down bad. He fell fast and harder and i adored it. Mallory’s guilt and relationship with her friends/family/chess was so raw and had me really rooting for her. Nolan was a “grumpy” champion who in truth was just a big ol’ softie.
Need I say that this is my favourite Ali Hazelwood book? That much is prettyy obvious.
Tropes: She takes care of him while sick, he falls fast AND harder, found family, just overall cuteness i can’t.
