I literally read this book in a day. I couldn’t put it down and was so glad we were able to have a relatively lazy Saturday so I could read so much! The more I read about Gwen and Sam, the more sucked in I get! I can’t wait to read book number four!
This book is soo good I’m really impressed with Ms.Caine ❤️
Another solid installment in the Stillhouse Lake series.
Gwen and her family are still suffering the aftermath of her ex-husband's crimes. There are still plenty of people who believe she was somehow complicit, an an ill-conceived TV interview brings her back into the public eye. In addition, Gwen receives a call for help that she finds difficult to ignore.
Action pretty much all the way, with some shocking revelations in store for the Proctors.

After a long pause between the 2nd book in the series and this I was happy to see that the writing is still just as good. I have to say that the original premise is still more captivating and that this isn’t as good as the previous two, but I’m so invested in these characters and we still have some answers to find. The action doesn’t miss and these are always great reads that are hard to put down.
"Monster shouldn't look normal."
This was a great addition to the series. Don't get me wrong, this book definitely sets up for the series to continue. But this is not a filler book. There is action that is a bit over the top - but I've always had a soft spot for Gwen and the kids and so I'll go on any ride with them.
But this book also shows what they've been through - as a family. We get to see Lanny and Connor really make some tough grown-up decisions - ones that they are far too young to have to face but are facing none the less.
We also learn some secrets. Not everyone has been fully upfront about what's in their past. We also see the fallout of some of the broken trust in the last story. We also get to meet some of the Lost Angels and see some of the first hand stalking and terrorizing that comes with this group of unhinged people. I loved how this story concluded and I'm completely on board for the new focus and twist. I'm so ready for the next one! I can't wait!

I don't know how the author comes up with these things (or any author for that matter) but this is such a fantastic series. I really feel for Gwen/Gina and everything she has gone through after discovering her husband was a serial killer.
This book still continues along the path of stalkers trying to make her life miserable because she had to have known what her husband was doing. Enter Miranda, she is a co-founder of Lost Angels and she is out to destroy Gwen. I get that she lost her daughter to Gwen's husband, but why does she want to destroy Gwen's life? She is a bit delusional.
The book takes another turn with the disappearance of a little girl and a call from a woman in Wolfhunter saying her life is in danger and she knows too much about a situation. Gwen sometimes helps women that want to escape a dangerous situation but since she wasn't given much information about what is going on in Wolfhunter she doesn't take it as seriously as she might with more details. That is until she receives a call from the woman's daughter which sets things in motion.
So not only is Gwen dealing with those trying to destroy her life (and her children's), she finds herself smack dab in this small town with a backwoods mentality and a secret...well actually there are probably 2-3 secrets that add some intriguing twists and turns to this story.
I know there is at least 1 more book after this one, but this book could have ended here. There is no cliff hanger ending and things are mostly tied up. So now I'm wondering how this ending plays into the next book and what could possibly happen to Gwen next.
Excellent series!

I still can't believe I managed to finish the 3rd book of the Stillhouse Lake series. Reading the first book was accidental but I can't stop myself from finding out what happens to the main characters. I would have rated WR with a 5 but Caine has this tendency to always rush the ending - that, or she just wanted to wrap things up fast. Still, a good read.
probably 3 1/2 stars but I enjoyed it
I love series and this third installment did not disappoint
